M1 SA 6 Million Service Grade 6098492
M1 Rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory. This rifle is a typical CMP Service Grade, and is being auctioned because it is a 6 million serial number. This rifle features a 5-56 SA barrel TE=3 M=1+, and a USGI Stock Set.
Several things of note on this particular rifle:
This rifle went through a rebuild at Letterkenny Army Depot in January of 1965, and is in the same condition as received by CMP with the exception of the handguards, which are new replacement. Rifle has the typical LEAD silver parkerized finish. Overton birch rebuild/replacement stock. No triangle is visible on the pistol grip.
