Springfield Armory M1903 Rifle 934834 D&T for Warner and Swasey Musket Sight
Model 1903 rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory. Serial number 934834 makes this a 1918 production rifle. This rifle has been drilled and tapped for a Warner and Swasey Musket sight for use as a sniper rifle then the holes were later plugged, converting it back to a standard M1903 service rifle.
This rifle has a RIA 12-18 barrel, TE=3 M=2 with a bright bore. The barrel and action appear to have been refinished while in military service. Straight handle J5 bolt. Stock is a grasping groove type with a boxed JFC inspector’s stamp as well as the letter S on the left side, R stamp in the cutoff notch, and a san-serif circled P proof. Rear sight has a volley notch and polished scales. High hump handguard with fixturing slot.
This is a nice example of a M1903 rifle, and has additional historical value since it was at one point a sniper rifle. Please see all pictures for details before bidding.
