Springfield M1903 Low Number S-Stock 195

First month production rifle assembled at CMP from mostly correct parts.  Altered rod bayonet barrel marked "S.A./05".  Correct early rear sight assembly with grooved and dished knobs.  Correct early pinned trigger guard marked "S" beneath floortplate.  Correct early bolt marked "S" on safety lug.  No "H" on bayonet lug.  Correct early cutoff, safety lock and lower band with serifed letters.  Early thin pointed trigger. Altered rod bayonet stock with plugged tip marked "S" on end.  Stock has been arsenal updated with two reinforcing screws.  Unmarked smooth buttplate.  Later stype high hump handguard with sighting groove.  All milled parts.  Stock has "POD-B" and "BA-WL" inspection stamps from Philippines Ordnance Depot and Benecia Arsenal. Mixed finishes on metal parts.  Stock has small crack behind receiver.  Front sight was loose and has been cemented in place.  Rifle is a low number which CMP considers unsafe for shooting.
