M1 Garand Winchester Repeating Arms 1342807 Like New
U.S. Rifle Caliber .30 M1 manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. This rifle is serial number 1342807, manufactured in June of 1943. This is a stunning example of a Winchester M1 rifle, and this rifle appears to be like new. Of particular note on this rifle is the wood. It has been documented by several researchers that Winchester sometimes used stock blanks intended for custom hunting rifles during shortages, and this appears to be one of those stocks. Stock and handguards have matching striped figure and some burl on the front handguard. Stock is a long channel with a WRA/GHD inspectors stamp and ordnance wheel.
Trigger housing is a D28290-WRA with a cloverleaf hole. C 46025 W.R.A. trigger guard, C46008-1W.R.A. hammer, hammer spring plunger has guide wings. -4 WRA flat top safety, A marked trigger. Trigger pin, hammer pin and clip ejector spring are blued, hammer spring is in the white.
Slant cut D35382-W.R.A. unmodified op rod, blued forged short fork follower rod, D28287-1W.R.A. bolt without step on lug, bright blue finished WRA narrow base gas cylinder with matching lock and single slot screw, punch marked WRA front sight. Narrow tail WRA follower and slide assembly, single bevel follower arm with punch mark, early type A marked WRA op rod catch with A marked accelerator, CM marked forged bullet guide. A marked round front clip latch.
Barrel is typical short pad WRA with Winchester commercial proof, TE=1 M=0+ with a mirror bore. Milled lower band with rounded corners, milled handguard clip. Rear sight is typical WRA with type 2 lockbar with rounded ends, WRA open arrow windage knob and elevation cap. Punch marked WRA sight base, WRA aperture w/o sand cuts. Staking on pinion is undisturbed, and pinion is in the white.
This rifle has very minor handling dings throughout, and has 2 small dings on the op rod, one on the tip of the handle and the other on top of the cam boss. Also, there is a small discolored spot on the center right side of the receiver, where it appears something sat against the side of it in storage.
This is a spectacular example of a Winchester M1 Garand, and finding a nicer example would be extremely difficult. Please see all pictures for details before bidding.
