USAMU Remington Model 700 6257229
Remington Model 700 Short Action serial number 6257229 chambered in 6mmBR. This rifle was used by the Army Marksmanship team, likely in international competition, as a 300 meter standard rifle. This rifle has been heavily modified by the Army Marksmanship Unit in Ft. Benning, GA, with a 26” stainless fluted barrel, international style stock, and Anschutz 2 stage match trigger mechanism, as well as being glass bedded into the stock.
The receiver is set up to accept Anschutz or similar 11mm dovetail mount sights, and the barrel has a dovetail block for a front sight. This rifle retains its factory bolt stop, however, and to remove the bolt it must be depressed with a screwdriver or similar, since the Anschutz trigger does not have the bolt stop provision like the factory Remington trigger.
Bore is bright, with strong rifling. Rifle has a screw in the top of the front ring for attachment of a mirage band.
Stock is made for position shooting, with an Anschutz standard/air rifle adjustable buttplate and a rail in the forend for attaching a handstop. There are several US Army stickers on the rifle.
This is a rare chance to own a rifle used by the USAMU in competition. Please see all pictures before bidding.
Please note. Bedding screws are not identical, and must be put in the correct orientation for the bolt to work correctly.
