This is a service grade M1 Garand rifle WRA 100202.
WRA started M1 production at serial number 100000; the first 500 produced were "educational" models and were not originally issued. The first formally issued rifle was 100501. After WWII began, some of the un-issued "educational" rifles were placed into service, and this rifle belongs to that group that saw use. These low serial number rifles in the range of 100000-100500 are now scarce and good collector's item.
The receiver of this rifle retains over 90% of its original finish even though it has seen some repair.
