This is a Model 70 Winchester Sporter 230229.
This is a nice WRA Model 70 Sporter, 30-06. This rifle came from the Army the way you see it. It has a blued finish over the entire rifle and it has about 99% finish remaining. The barrel is 24" with a tapered bore, 1" dia. At the breach and .625" at the muzzle. The rifling is bright and shiny. The T.E. is a "0"+ and the muzzle is a "1". The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope blocks and the left rear of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a peep sight. This rifle has the stock sights with a sight hood. The stock is a sporter model with checkering in the fore arm and the pistol grip. The stock also has the factory sling swivel studs, but no swivels.
This rifle is a solid example of a pre '64 Winchester Model 70.
