Rock Island Arsenal FIELD GRADE

The bore of this rifle is somewhat dark with pitting
Receiver: Good to very good arsenal parkerization, some wear visible.
Bolt: Nickel Steel stamped, slight rearward bend. 894295 etched into body
Floor plate: Standard 1903 floorplate, magazine body
Markings & Other information: Rock Island Arsenal 1903 Field Grade with 1903 manufacture year.

Rifle has fair-to-good military finish throughout with some wear. Bolt is stamped “NS” for nickel steel and has slight rearward bend. The number 894295 is etched into the bolt body. Headspace on this rifle is within tolerance on a Clymer field gauge. The barrel is a Springfield Armory barrel dated 9-40 with a muzzle reading of 2+ and a throat of 3+. The bore is somewhat dark with light pitting throughout. A serif “P”, RIA, and a small “30” are stamped just forward of the rear sight sleeve on the exterior of the barrel. “Straight” stock with dents and dings throughout. No cartouches are present, but a large serif “P” is stamped to the rear of the floor plate. Another serif “P” can be found with a “RI” stamped underneath the front end of the floor plate on the underside of the recoil block. All stock metal is complete and present with a smooth face, hand stippled buttplate.
