Information: Springfield Armory M1 Garand Mk 2 Mod 0
This rifle was converted to 7.62mm ammunition at the US Navy’s CRANE small arms facility. This rifle has not been test fired or otherwise worked by CMP.

It is an early conversion which used a sleeve in the chamber and is therefore not considered safe to shoot and is sold for collecting purposes only

It is still in the wrappings that it was placed in after conversion circa 1966

The wrapping were opened just enough to verify the serial number

The inner core of the wrappings contained a protective coating
