This rifle was wrapped in a storage bag circa 1966. The wrapping was opened to verify the serial number but was ripped much further than needed. The rifle was removed from the wrapping and worked though. All parts on the rifle are the same ones it had when the wrapping was opened. The rifle is in overall very good condition. The finish on the metal parts is excellent. The receiver is a 1.3 million w/ the lead annealing discoloration. Lock bar sights are installed w/ the elevation knob being checkered. The barrel is a purpose built 7.62x51mm SA that was installed by American Machine & Foundry Company (AMF). “AMF -P- 7.62 NATO” is stamped on the side of the barrel as well as “7.62mm”. This barrel is a 3-66 w/ a drawing number of 11686514 which is one of two drawing numbers identifying the MOD 1 barrels. The other drawing number, 11010457 is printed on the outside of the wrapping where the contents were notated. The stock is a GI set w/ a SA GAW cartouche. The top half of a work tag from AMF is hanging from the stock ferrule that has the serial number of the gun written on it. A barcode tracking tag is on the trigger guard. The parts are of mixed manufacture.
