DESCRIPTION
Springfield Armory M1 Garand MK2, Mod 1
Serial Number 1060469
This rifle was converted to fire 7.62x51mm ammunition at the US Navy’s CRANE small arms facility. A purpose built, 7.62x51mm SA barrel was installed. This rifle has not been test fired.

It is a later conversion which used a new barrel and did not use a sleeve in the chamber.

It is still in the wrappings that it was placed in after conversion circa 1966

The wrapping were opened just enough to verify the serial number

The inner core of the wrappings contained a protective coating
