Markings & Other information: Early Springfield Gas Port Cylinder w/ front sight Screw Cap.
This early Springfield Gas Port Cylinder has a Springfield front sight with the screw cap in place. It also has the drawing number D-25449-SA stamped into the right side of the rear ring. In addition the top of the rear ring is stamped with a “6” (possibly a 9). It gauges well and is appropriate for gas port M1 Garands manufactured before December 1941 including those that were converted from the Gas Trap configuration.
