Mann Accuracy Device
Mann Accuracy Devices (MADs) were used by both US military and commercial companies to test the accuracy of ammunition. MADs have a very thick barrel and were mounted to prevent movement during firing so that the only variable was the ammunition itself.

The overall condition of this MAD is very good. The receiver has a very good finish which shows a little wear due to use. The barrel is unfinished, has a bright bore with no lands or grooves (Smooth Bore) and is marked “.223 (5.56) Smooth Bore”. The bolt is incomplete with only the body, extractor and collar. The bolt is inscribed with the receiver serial number. The trigger, sear, bolt body and magazine cut-off are all Remington parts.
