This rifle is in overall very good condition. This three digit receiver was manufactured during the 4th month of production in Nov 1937 and was the 596th made during full production. Originally produced as a Gas Trap rifle it was later converted to a Gas Port rifle which means the gas system was replaced along with the barrel and a few other parts. However, this rifle has many parts that are appropriate to the time period of manufacture including parts that are considered rare. When this conversion was done is unknown. The receiver has been modified for the7th Rd stoppage. See the accompanying data sheet for details. Most identifiable parts are Springfield. The stock is a late replacement that has some dents and dings.
