M1D Sniper Rifle WRA WIN-13 1604106

M1D Sniper rifle built on a Winchester Repeating Arms receiver. This receiver is serial number 1604106, which was manufactured in January of 1945.This rifle is a service grade with the SA M1D barrel gauging 1 at the muzzle and 2 at the throat with a great bore. The P proof stamp on the barrel was stamped over the year, but the barrel date appears to be 1-52.

M1D sniper rifles were built on receivers as the need arose, since the barrel is the only sniper specific part. All M1D rifles are a mix of parts as a result of this rebuild process, and this rifle is no exception. This rifle has the following parts:

-9 flat side modified SA op rod, D28287-12 SA bolt with S-06◊ heat lot, SA stamped bullet guide, stamped long fork follower rod, post war SA follower, post war SA follower arm and WRA late type op rod catch. WRA round front clip latch.

D28290 WRA trigger housing with cloverleaf hole and cut pad. Stamped guard with milled hook, -7 SA hammer, SA-11 Safety. Hammer spring plunger has guide wings.

Post war gas cylinder and front sight, low hump beveled lock and P àlock screw. T105E1 rear sight with DRC windage knob with S SH pinion. WRA aperture w/o sand cuts.

WRA short channel stock with open box SA over RA rebuild stamps. Total of 4 P proofs in center of grip, 2 in circles, 2 plain. No cheekpad screw holes in stock. Front handguard appears to be post war SA, and rear handguard is typical M1D. Stock and handguards are very dry. WRA lower band with radiused corners and solid pin.

This is a very nice example of an M1D sniper rifle built on an uncommon receiver, and would make an excellent addition to any collection. Please see all pictures for details before bidding.
