US Rifle, Cal .30, M1C 3641776 with Matching Base

Springfield Armory M1C Sniper rifle, serial number 3641776. Due to the mix of parts on this rifle, it has gone through at least one rebuild. This rifle is a service grade with the SA 8-51 barrel gauging 1 at the muzzle and 2 at the throat. This rifle features a bright green parkerized finish.  

 Gas cylinder is a SA post war wide base. Lock is late type with high hump, lock screw is O poppet valve type.  Op rod is a modified -9 curved side SA.  Trigger group is 6528290 SA with a SA D5546008 hammer and -6 SA safety. Hammer Spring Plunger has no guide wings and flat sides. Stamped trigger guard with stamped hook.

Follower is a rear stamped 8 SA, bullet guide is WW2 stamped. Op rod catch and follower arm are SA. Follower rod is a long fork riveted. Bolt is -12SA with a S-A1◊ heat lot. T105E1 rear sight with DRC windage knob and NHC pinion.

 Stock appears to be post war with a plain P rebuild proof, AN rebuild stamp, and the number 1776 stamped in the right side of the butt. This matches the last 4 of the rifle. Handguards appear to be post war SA. WRA milled lower band with solid pin.

Metal finish has some wear from use and handling marks throughout but has good dark color, and is probably refinished. Scope base is numbered and the numbers match the rifle.  

No scope, rings, mount, cheekpiece or flash suppressor is included. 

This is a nice example of a rebuilt M1C sniper rifle, and would make a nice addition to any collection, especially with the 1776 serial number. Please see all pictures for details before bidding.
