This is a service grade M1 Garand rifle "Postage Stamp" IHC 4407185.
This is an example of the rarest type of IHC M1 Garand, only 12 serial numbers known existing before this one within this range. These receivers were all IHC production instead of IHC serial numbers on other manufacturer's receivers. The correct barrels for these rifles would have been LMR within the 2/53 to 6/53 range, making the barrel correct for this rifle. It is not known how many rifles were made in this range, but they were all within the 4407xxx range. IHC was going to stay on the 440xxxx block until they caught up with where production of the 4440xxx block had broken off, but decided to go back to the 4440xxx block because of how far they were behind in production.
