This is a Model 1899 Krag Springfield Armory 344789.
The grade of this rifle is unknown, but the muzzle gauge drops the entire way. This indicates this rifle is particularly worn down from extensive use. The bore of this rifle is in fair condition with some rust and/or pitting. The barrel of this rifle is a modified barrel that measures 22" in length. This is the correct length for a carbine barrel, but this barrel has been modified to fit a newer front sight. It is believed to be one of the rifles the military modified that were not Phillipine constabulary or BOF modified rifles. This rifle is presumably a modified carbine, but some with rifle barrels that were cut down to the carbine size as well. There are stampings of "4" on the bottom of the loading tray, "7" on bottom of the bolt handle, and "U" on the lower band. This rifle does have good headspacing, though. There are spots of rust along some of the metal parts of the rifle. The stock of this rifle is a GI stock with some dings, scratches, scrapes, and/or gouges; it possesses a proof marking with an additional stamping behind the trigger guard and a cartouche on the side of the rifle.
Sold as is.
