This is a Model 1898 Krag modified Springfield 137586.
The muzzle gauge is a 2+, and it is 22" in length fitting the length for the carbine barrels. However, the barrel has been modified to accomodate a newer sight and longer stock, meaning it could have been either a rifle barrel that was cut down and then modified or a regular carbine barrel that was modified. This rifle has good headspacing. The wood of this rifle is GI with some dings, scratches, scrapes, and/or gouges. The cartouche and proof markings can clearly be seen, as well as an addition stamp just behind the trigger housing, on the stock. Stampings of "U" and "V" can be found on the lower band and the bottom of the bolt handle, respectively. There are no other defining characteristincs of this rifle.
