This is a Model 1899 Krag carbine Springfield Armory 284852.
This rifle has good headspacing, and the bore is in fair condition with some to little rust and/or pitting. However, the rifle does not gauge well as the gauge falls all the way through, denoting that this rifle is heavily worn out. In addition, there is a hole drilled in the bottom of the butt of the stock and there is a screw holding the band in place. This screw is sharp, so it should be handled with care. The wood of this rifle is GI with the proof marking, cartouche, and an additional stamp on the stock. There are plenty of imperfections in the wood, as can be seen from the pictures. There is a stamp on the bottom of the loading mechanism, a stamp of "U" on the band, and a stamp of "5" on the rear sight base.
Sold as is.
