This rifle has a barrel marked RA 8-43. The muzzle gauges at 0. The throat gauges at 0+. Rifle has a bright bore. FJA cartouche on stock. Proof marking and assembly inspection markings on stock. In 1943, Smith-Corona overran their assigned serial number block by about 5,000 rifles and into Remington’s serial number block. Smith-Corona was ordered to denote their duplicate serial numbers with a “c” prefix. This Remington rifle’s serial number falls in the Smith-Corona duplicate serial number range. This rifle was re-stocked at the CMP with a correct Remington stock. (All information per tag).
